2021 World Snooker Championship - Day 3 Betting Picks

2021 World Snooker Championship – Day 2 Betting Picks

Here are our free betting picks for Ding Junhui v Stuart Bingham, Kyren Wilson v Gary Wilson, and Jack Lisowski v Ali Carter. They will clash on Monday, April 19, on the third day of the 2021 World Snooker Championship.

Ding Junhui v Stuart Bingham

Monday, April 19 – 10:00 BST

Ding Junhui enters this bout after a long seven-week hiatus from competing. He was last seen playing in March when he lost against world no. 89 Si Jiahui at Gibraltar Open.

Despite his poor showing in Gibraltar, Junhui is not exactly a man you would want to face in the first round. That said, Stuart Bingham is probably much higher on the list of unwanted first-round opponents for anyone at the Crucible.

Bingham enters the World Snooker Championship in great form, having won five in a row ahead of this bout. That run includes wins against Xiao Guodong (2-0), Kyren Wilson (2-0), Mark Williams (2-1), Chen Zifan (6-1), and Luca Brecel (10-5).

Not only is Bingham in great form, but his record against Junhui is also excellent. They have met here before in 2011, when Ding won the decider 13-12, however, Bingham is no longer the same player.

There is a world where Junhui wins, but there is no way of knowing how will he do. Bingham, on the other side, we know what he will bring to the table and it’s much easier to trust the known quality.

Prediction: Stuart Bingham to win, Over 2.5 Centuries

Kyren Wilson v Gary Wilson

Monday, April 19 – 10:00 BST

Last year’s finalist Kyren Wilson will clash with Gary Wilson, who has made a surprise semi-finals appearance in 2019, after his only second shot at the title.

The Wilsons last met in January at The Masters, when Kyren won 6-2. It marked only his second head-to-head victory since 2014, having lost the remaining three with 2-3, 0-3, and 2-3.

Gary looks set to claim a revenge win here, seeing how he has not struggled too much against Gerald Greene (6-4) and Steven Hallworth (10-3) in the qualifiers. However, Kyren will prove to be an entirely different beast to what Gary played against recently.

What’s more, Kyren enters this match on a three-game win streak, having beaten Yuelong Zhou (3-2), John Higgins (3-2), and Mark Williams (3-2). All of whom are significantly stronger opponents to what Gary had to face in April.

It’s hard to go against Kyren Wilson. Although you can respect Gary for what he has shown of late, it’s Kyren who we like far better for this bout.

Prediction: Kyren Wilson -2.5 frames

Jack Lisowski v Ali Carter

Monday, April 19 – 14:30 BST

Jack Lisowski and Ali Carter last met at this stage of the competition in 2019, when Carter won 10-6. Despite his success last time out, he enters this match as an underdog.

That might make sense on paper, considering Lisowski is higher rated, but those numbers hardly convince us Lisowski is the right pick here. Carter is in great form, having already beaten Pang Junxu (6-4) and Alexander Ursenbacher (10-4) ahead of this bout.

Lisowski, on the other side, hasn’t won a single match since his 2-1 win against Barry Hawkins in March. That translates to a 10-game losing streak. Most recently, Lisowski lost against Neil Robertson in Tour Championship quarter-finals 5-10.

Lisowski has looked better throughout the season, but it seems like Carter has been saving his strength for this event. Carter has looked good of late, whereas you can’t really expect Lisowski to suddenly improve upon what he has shown last month.

Carter has 17 World Championship appearances in his career, which includes two finals, one semi-final, and three quarter-finals, two of which came in 2018 and 2019. Lisowski has appeared at the Crucible only three times and has never made it past the second round.

Prediction: Ali Carter to win, Over 16.5 frames
