2021 World Snooker Championship – Day 7 Betting Picks
Betting-Previews brings you free 2021 World Snooker Championship betting previews and predictions for Friday, April 23. Here are our best bets for Barry Hawkins vs Kyren Wilson and John Higgins vs Mark Williams.
Barry Hawkins vs Kyren Wilson
Friday, April 23 – 10:00 BST
If there is one match you shouldn’t miss it’s this one. Featuring two of the most consistent performances at the Crucible Theatre, Friday’s opener promises to be a banger and we don’t expect it to be anything less than that.
Barry Hawkins has been playing incredibly well of late and has looked very solid in his 10-3 victory against Selt on Wednesday. Although it’s true that Selt has missed plenty of chances, that doesn’t take away from the fact that Hawkins hardly misses a ball and seems to be in the form of his life.
Similarly, we were very impressed with Kyren Wilson recently. He was known for his lack of heavy scoring in the past, but looking at his play now, it seems like he has improved in that department.
Wilson is, in fact, has no clear weakness and is also showing good form, having won four in a row ahead of this one. Last round, he beat Gary Wilson (10-8), having previously edged past Mark Williams (3-2), John Higgins (3-2), and Yuelong Zhou (3-2).
Wilson and Hawkins last met in February, when Wilson won 3-1. It marked his fourth consecutive head-to-head victory – a streak that began in 2019. Despite what that record would suggest, we find them to be very evenly matched.
This is bound to be a close match that can go both ways. So we have to take the plus money on Hawkins.
Prediction: Hawkins B. to win – 2.10 at Pinnacle

John Higgins vs Mark Williams
Friday, April 23 – 14:30 BST
John Higgins and Mark Williams are two quite remarkable players. Both have been in the sport for well over two decades and they’re still one of the best- but which of the two is better?
Higgins and Williams last met here in 2018, when Williams won 18-16 and then went on to win the whole thing. He has since met with Higgins five more times, albeit won only one more – in March with 3-1.
Their most recent meeting happened at the start of this month when Higgins won 3-1, but will he manage to repeat that success, or will 2018 repeat itself?
To be fair, both have a realistic chance to win, however, Williams proved to be more impressive in the first round of the competitions. Higgins, on the other side, looked uncharacteristically poorly against Tian Pengfei (10-7).
The question is, however, whether Higgins can improve upon that showing, or will Williams cause an upset? For once, we don’t believe Williams should even be priced as an underdog.
He is playing very relaxed snooker and looks very confident in his games. He seems to be in better form and has already beaten Higgins at the Crucible before, so it doesn’t make much sense to doubt him.
At this price, Williams is definitely the smarter pick out of the two. While we don’t expect a very one-sided affair, we have made it very clear which of the two we like better.
Prediction: Mark Williams to win – 2.37 at Pinnacle
Prediction: Over 22.50 Frames – 2.00 at Bet365
