2021 World Snooker Championship – Day 9 Betting Picks
Betting-Previews brings you free 2021 World Snooker Championship betting previews and predictions for Sunday, April 25. Check out our best bets for Stuart Bingham vs Jamie Jones and Dave Gilbert vs Judd Trump.
Stuart Bingham v Jamie Jones
Sunday, April 25 – 10:00 BST
Jamie Jones enters this match off a shock win against Stephen Maguire. The 33-year-old came back from 1-3 down to steamroll over Maguire and won 10-4.
It marked Jones’ sixth consecutive win and fourth of the tournament, having previously beaten David Lilley (6-4), Michael Holt (6-3), and Hang Li (10-5) in the qualification finals.
With his performance against Maguire, Jones proved he can look as determined and solid as he did in the qualifiers. After such an impressive run, you have to put some hope into Jones to make a splash here as well.
And we’ll just take a moment here to pat ourselves on the back for correctly predicting Jones to defeat Maguire. Now onto Stuart Bingham.
Bingham came through the last stage with a 10-9 thriller against Junhui Ding, to extend his streak to six in a row. Like Jones, Bingham had to battle through the qualifiers, where he did not disappoint with wins against Chen Zifan (6-1) and Luca Bercel (10-5).
Both players performed well so far, and while we secretly hope for Jones to win, Bingham is still one of the best players in the sport. What’s more, his scoring of late has been exceptional, which should earn him a win tomorrow.
That said, we don’t expect it to be a complete blowout. Jones has been playing well and is arguably stronger than any opponent Birmingham has faced recently, so it’s fair to say we’re in for a tight affair. Still, we have to take Bingham with a 3.5 frames handicap.
Prediction: Stuart Bingham -3.5 frames
Dave Gilbert vs Judd Trump
Sunday, April 25 – 10:00 BST
The clash between Dave Gilbert and Judd Trump could prove to be a very tight and entertaining affair. That is only if Gilbert can show the same form he has in the first round.
Looking back, Gilbert has looked very solid in his 10-4 win against Chris Walkelin. It was probably his best game he has played this entire season, which gives us hope he can step up and properly challenge the 2019 champion.
Since no one expects Gilbert to win, he can play this one like he has nothing to lose, which should, in theory, work in his favor. This attitude would make him a much more dangerous player to face, but you can’t really make a strong case against Judd Trump.
There is a reason why we picked Trump as our main pick to win the title this year and he has yet to show anything that would make us change our mind. He is playing well and if his performance against Liam Highfield (10-4) is any indication, Trump should have a solid chance at his second title.
You can’t really bet against Trump here, but at the same time, we don’t feel comfortable the champion will have an easy time either. This should be an open and exciting match that won’t leave any snooker fan indifferent. As for our prediction, we have to take Gilbert with +5.5 frames.
Prediction: Dave Gilbert +5.50 Frames
