Baltimore Ravens v New York Jets – NFL Betting Preview and Prediction

This Friday, New York Jets will take a trip to Baltimore, where they will clash with the league leaders – Baltimore Ravens, who will look to keep their nine-game winning streak alive against Jets, who have just recently found their form.

New York Jets’ surge of form

New York Jets are entering their 14th game of the season with a 5-0-8 record on the year, which sits them at 13th spot in the league and at the third spot in the AFC East Division. Jets have had a rather poor start of 2019/20 season, seeing how they lost all of their opening four fixtures and went on to win only one match in their opening eight. With 1-0-7 record next to their name, Jets were sitting firmly at the bottom of the standings. That being said, they have suddenly found their form and are now 4-0-1 in their last five, which catapulted them to the 13th spot in the league.

In their last five, Jets won against New York Giants (34:27), Washington Redskins (34:17) and Oakland Raiders (34:3) before they lost to Cincinnati Bengals (6:22) at the start of the month. Nonetheless, Jets managed to dust themselves off and bested Miami Dolphins last weekend (22:21) to keep their fire going as they face their toughest opponents yet.

Jets will be without OT Chuma Edoga, S Jamal Adams, CB Brian Poole and RB Bilal Powell for their clash with Ravens. DL Steve McLendon, RB Ty Montgomery, OT Kelvin Beachum, S Matthias Farley, and DL Nathan Shepherd are all listed as questionable, while DL Quinnen Williams and CB Arthur Maulet are both doubtful to play.

Baltimore Ravens looking the streak alive

Baltimore Ravens are entering the Friday’s bout with 11-0-2 record on the year and a perfect 9-0 in their last nine games. They are currently leading the league and are one match ahead of New England Patriots and two games ahead of both Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. Suffice to say, Ravens are also the leaders of their division with three games lead ahead of Steelers, five ahead of Browns and 10 ahead of Bengals.

In regards to their nine-game winning streak, Baltimore Ravens defeated Pittsburgh Steelers (26:23), Cincinnati Bengals (23:17), Seattle Seahawks (30:16), New England Patriots (37:20), Cincinnati Bengals for the second time (49:13), Houston Texans (41:7), Los Angeles Rams (45:6), San Francisco 49ers (20:17) and Buffalo Bills (24:17) last weekend.

Ravens will enter Friday’s match without LB Chris Board. OT Ronnie Stanley remains doubtful. while TE Mark Andrews, DE Jihad Ward, S Anthony Levine, and QB Lamar Jackson are all listed as questionable. On a more positive note, QB Lamar Jackson should return, despite being limited in practice.

Verdict & Prediction

Looking at this match, we have some questions over Jackson, who should return to play however, we are certain he is not 100% fit yet. That alone leads us to believe their game plan will be slightly changed, meaning we can expect an emphasis on power run game with Mark Ingram. In normal circumstances, that would scream a low scoring match, but considering Jets’ long list of injured players, we can’t see how the visitors will be able to stop Ravens on the ground, despite their strong rush defense.

As we see it, Ravens should get a substantial lead early, which would most likely result in a more lenient defense for the remainder of the match. While Jet’s don’t scream quality in the offense, especially with all the injured players, they have more than enough talented receivers to take advantage of the situation, which should help them rack up some points. All things considered, we see this as a high-scoring match which should reach at least 45 point mark.
