Renegades vs OG – ESL Pro League Season 13
OG have split their opening two fixtures of the tournament. They won their first game against BIG, where OG overperformed a bit – or perhaps it was the Germans who underperformed – but soon got put in their place by Complexity who bested them 2-0.
Despite what the final score would suggest, OG held on well against Complexity and even had chances to win, but as noted before, these close matches never end in favor of OG. Their tendency to lose close games makes me believe there might some sort of mental blockade their sports psychologist should deal with.
Renegades have yet to win a match this tournament, losing 0-2 against Heroic and FunPlus Phoenix. They are clearly not at the level of other teams in their group, and it seems like they’ll need a bit more time to compete with European teams. One thing that might work in their favor is that no one expects Renegades to win, so they can play without any pressure.
There are no previous matches between these two teams.
Although I believe OG are massively overrated, I don’t believe Renegades can win here. Sure, they looked fairly competitive on Map 1 against Heroic and FunPlus Phoenix, but they seemed to collapse on map two and I suspect we might see a similar scenario play out here. If OG can get it together for at least one match, they should come out ahead with ease.
Score Prediction: 2-0 for OG

Heroic vs FunPlus Phoenix – ESL Pro League Season 13
Heroic enter this match on the heels of an upset win against BIG. They were priced above even money yesterday, which was clearly a mistake on the side of bookmakers, as that was a match that could have gone either way.
FunPlus Phoenix won their last outing against Renegades (2-0), however, I wouldn’t rank that win too highly, since they faced the weakest team at the tournament. That said, wins like that should at least help with FPX’s morale as they’re still adapting to their new in-game leader.
The last time these two teams met was in December 2020 at DreamHack Masters Winter 2020 Europe, where FunPlus Phoenix (back then the core of the team was still playing under the GODSENT flag) managed to upset Heroic 2-1. They took the first map 16-10 on Inferno, lost 14-16 on Vertigo, but closed out the deal with a comfortable 16-10 win on Train.
GODSENT were the deserving victors that day, however, this is not the same team anymore. They were back then still playing with Luka ’emi’ Vuković, who is not nearly as good as their new player Miikka ‘suNny’ Kemppi. Nevertheless, FPX clearly enjoy playing facing Heroic, seeing how they have won two out of three head-to-head bouts.
Although Heroic are the better team with a more established IGL, I expect a close affair on Wednesday. Heroic will be priced very low after their strong performance against BIG and considering the positive H2H record, the value should be with FPX.
Score Prediction: 2-1 for Heroic

BIG vs Complexity – ESL Pro League Season 13
I have no idea what happened with BIG, but the way they’re been playing of late, this is not the BIG I was used to watching just a couple of months back. Despite their struggles, I don’t think they should start looking to make roster changes – perhaps they were just a bit unlucky to lose their series with OG (1-2) and Heroic (1-2).
Looking back, BIG were playing well at BLAST Premier Spring Groups 2021, but it seems like something changed when they attended IEM Katowice 2021. This team has beaten Astralis 2-0 just a couple of weeks back, but now they’re losing against Heroic and FPX? Something isn’t right.
After a poor start of the tournament, BIG will be desperate to defeat Complexity, since another loss all but guarantees them elimination from the group stage. Although that might work as a good motivation booster, it also puts a lot of pressure on the players, who just might collapse if they fall behind early.
Complexity are back baby! They struggled a little bit against OG, but a win is still a win and it seems like this squad is getting better and better ever since they got their full roster back together. The only player that needs to improve a bit more is their newest signing jks, but outside of that, Complexity field a stable roster with a bright future ahead.
The last time these two teams met was back at IEM Beijing-Haidian 2020 Europe in November 2020, when Complexity won 2-0, with 16-14 on Overpass and 16-6 on Nuke. Benjamin ‘blameF’ Bremer was on fire that day and ended the series with 52 frags and a 1.64 HLTV rating, while BIG players were pretty much non-existent seeing how Ismailcan ‘XANTARES’ Dörtkardeş ended the series with a 1.03 HLTV rating and was still the best player on the team.
This one should be a straight-forward win for Complexity. They are on the rise and seem to be in great form, whereas BIG are clearly dealing with some issues and are not playing good CS of late. Complexity to win 2-0!
Score Prediction: 2-0 for Complexity
