Eintracht Frankfurt v Dusseldorf – Bundesliga

Eintracht Frankfurt v Dusseldorf – Bundesliga Betting Preview and Prediction

Eintracht Frankfurt v Dusseldorf – Bundesliga Betting Preview and Prediction

Eintracht Frankfurt and Dusseldorf will meet this Sunday, September 1 at Commerzbank-Arena, the home of Eintracht Frankfurt.

Revamped Eintracht Frankfurt looking for a strong start

Due to having Europa League commitments, the upcoming fixture will mark the 10th competitive contest for Eintracht Frankfurt, yet, it will be their only second fixture of the week. Looking back at Eintracht Frankfurt’s Bundesliga campaign so far, Die Adler started off the 2019/20 season with a win against Hoffenheim (1:0) followed by a painful 2:1 visit at Red Bull Arena, where it was RB Leipzig who came out on top. Still, it’s hard to be too negative about Eintracht’s performance at the Red Bull Arena, where they were very competitive with the home side. Unfortunately, the visitors did not take full advantage of their opportunities, only mustering up one goal in the dying moments of the game.

While their domestic league results remain at a mediocre 1-0-1, Eintracht Frankfurt have performed admirably well in the Europa League qualifications, where they had no problems reaching the finals and dismantling Strasbourg (3:0) on Thursday. As it stands now, Eintracht Frankfurt seem like they are in a phenomenal form, still, there is one big question surrounding their team. And that is how Die Adler will perform without Luka Jovic, who has been the driving force behind the team last term. On top of that, Eintracht Frankfurt also said their farewells to Sebastien Haller who will continue his career in the Premier League. As a replacement, Adi Hutter brought in Bas Dost earlier this week, meaning the Sunday’s fixture could be his debut for his new team. That is if Goncalo Paciencia will let him, considering the Portuguese striker netted four goals already, with his most recent coming from a 2:1 defeat against Leipzig last weekend. Ante Rebic who sat out last weekend’s fixture is also said to return, giving the home side plenty of attacking options

Dusseldorf defensive struggles continue

Fortuna finished last season at a respectable 10th place with a 13-5-16 record, which was quite an achievement for the newly-promoted side. A lot of their success last season came due to their highly attacking approach, which was admired by many and a nuisance for others. Their offensive approach did, however, take its toll on the other side of the pitch. Fortuna conceded a total of 65 goals last term, which was the fifth-worst record in the league. During the summer, Dusseldorf lost Dodi Lukebakio to Herta, but signed Nana Ampomah and new goalkeeper Zack Steffen, who is expected to help with their defensive problems.

Looking back at Fortuna’s season so far, they have produced a very solid start with a 1:3 win over Werder Bremen, only to suffer a 1:3 defeat in game two against Bayern Leverkusen. Looking ahead to the fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt, Fortuna will hope they can bounce back, which will be easier said than done, considering they lost Marcel Sobottka and Kasim Adams to an injury last week. On a more positive note, Bernard Tekpetey and Dawid Kownacki are expected to start following a very impressive performance last week.

Verdict & Prediction

Fortuna will look to grab their second win of the season at Commerzbank-Arena which will not be a walk in the park. The Dusseldorf outfit have not won in Frankfurt since 1980 and with injuries weakening the squad, we can hardly expect them to break the spell. Despite their subpar defense, which suffered three goals last week, we still cannot completely ignore Fortuna’s offense, which produced four goals so far into the season on top of six goals in their friendly fixture against Meerbusch on Tuesday. While we talk about offensive strength, it’s also the hosts who do not shy away from showing off their firepower, especially at home turf, where they scored at least once in the last five fixtures.

The last term, both sides saw over 2.5 goals in 64% of their fixtures, with over one third (36%) ending with more than 3.5 goals. On top of that, both h2h meetings between Fortuna and Eintracht Frankfurt ended with at least 3 goals. All things considered, we can expect an exciting fixture this Sunday, with plenty of scoring opportunities and goals.

Prediction: Over 2.75 Goals
