Today we will have a chance to see Everton host Crystal Palace at Goodison Park in the 7th round of Premier League.
Everton has had a great start of the season. The opening match was played against Tottenham at Goodison Park, where the home side got an early lead with a surprising goal from a free kick. Barkley crossed the ball in, but no one got to it, which surprised Lloris, who was too slow to catch the ball. With that, Everton got a lead in 5′. Tottenham fought back and got their equalizer in 59′ (Lamela). It was an entertaining match to watch as both sides had a lot of chances. Despite only getting a point, Everton can be happy, as they managed to stop (now) one of the top teams in Premier League. But Everton did not stop there, they went on to win the next 4 matches in BPL against West Brom (1:2), Stoke City (1:0), Sunderland (0:3), Middlesbrough (3:1) and against Yeovil (4:0) in EFL Cup. Next 2 matches that followed were disappointing to say the least. Everton got knocked out of EFL by Norwich (0:2) and lost a match against Bournemouth (1:0). Now they are hoping to get back on track with a win against 7th placed team, Crystal Palace.
The visiting team are currently holding a record of 3W-1D-2L. Both of the loses came from the opening 2 matches of BPL against West Brom (0:1) and Tottenham (1:0). The next match was in EFL, where Crystal Palace dominated Blackpool and won (2:0). This seemed to give the “Eagles” boost of confidence they needed, as they have only lost 1 match since, against Southampton (2:0) in 1/16-finals of EFL, whereas Bournemouth (1:1), Middlesbrough (1:2), Stoke City (4:1) and Sunderland (2:3) all failed to defeat Crystal Palace.
Both teams are hungry for a win and it will reflect in the upcoming fixture. We can expect an entertaining match as both of the teams are expected to play attacking football. The “Toffees” surely want to get a bitter taste of their 1st defeat in BPL out of their mouths. It was a surprising defeat, even for me, as Everton was on a great run and looked really strong under the guidance of Ronald Koeman this season. Of course, Crystal palace also deserves a praise, as they have had some great showings so far.
VERDICT
As mentioned before, expect an attacking football from both sides. Everton will want to win this one, just to get back on the track, but they are facing a team that has just started their winning streak, so it’s safe to say Crystal Palace are in a good form at the moment. Recent matches between these two at this venue shows, Crystal Palace has done fine against Everton. The “Eagles” have showed they are capable of scoring a goal, as they did it 7 times in the last 3 matches played, similar goes for Everton, who has netted 8 goals in the last 4 matches at Goodison Park. With that in mind BTTS offers a good value, as does a bet on Over 2.5 goals.
