Everton v Wolverhampton – Premier League

Everton v Wolverhampton - Premier League Betting Preview and Prediction

Everton v Wolverhampton – Premier League Betting Preview and Prediction

Everton and Wolverhampton will square off this Sunday, September 1, at Goodison Park in the fourth round of EPL. Everton will enter the fixture hoping to make it two in a row following their EFL victory against Lincoln, whereas it will be the visitors, who will look to claim their first W of the EPL season.

Europa League weighting Wolves down

The biggest concern in Wolves camp ahead of the 2019/20 season has come true, with Europa League proving to have its toll on the team. Wolves, while still one of the few EPL teams who have not yet suffered a defeat, are also one of the few teams that have not yet tasted a victory, with three ties to their name so far (0-3-0). There are some arguments to be made Wolves did deserve to win at Leicester in their opening fixture of the season, yet there are also points to be made they probably should have lost against Burnley last weekend. All in all, their record is a fair representation of how well they performed so far, which considering they have earned an away draw against Leicester and a 1:1 draw against Man United is not particularly bad.

Three draws might not be optimal results, however, it would be fair to say Wolves will be happy claiming yet another draw at Goodison Park, considering the upcoming fixture will be played barely three days after a tough Europa League fixture against Torino.

Everton chasing second win of the season

Everton enter the fourth round of EPL with a 1-1-1 record, which earned them four points and 12th place on the standings. The Toffees started off their EPL campaign with a goalless draw against Crystal Palace, followed by a close 1:0 win over Watford and a disappointing 2:0 defeat against Aston Villa last weekend. While by no means an impressive record to hold, Everton can at least boast with an impressive 5-0-0 record at Goodison Park, which includes 2:0 win over Chelsea, 1:0 against Arsenal and 4:0 against Manchester United last term. An impressive record to hold, yet we cannot put too much weight on the outstanding results against the EPL top dogs towards the end of the last season, considering Everton were fighting for a European contention, which gave them an extra boost to perform better.

Verdict & Prediction

It’s fair to say it won’t be an easy match for either side comes Sunday. Wolves will enter the fixture with tired legs, whereas it’s Everton who still have a lot to prove, with no notable results so far this term. Yet, we cannot completely disregard the very solid record of Toffees at Goodison Park, where they managed to keep a clean sheet in all of their last five fixtures, making us believe the tired Wolves will have a hard time finding the net. While we talk about scoring difficulties, it’s Everton who have not been too impressive in the scoring department either. Despite all the investments during summer, they still sit at only one goal across their opening three league fixtures. That, however, should not come off as a surprise, considering Everton struggle to produce a solid amount of threatening attacks in their fixtures. All things considered, we can expect a slow fixture with not a lot of goals on the menu.
