Golden State Warriors v Houston Rockets – NBA Betting Preview
The 2nd match of the 2017-18 NBA season will take place in Oracle Arena, Oakland where Golden State Warriors, the defending champions anticipate Houston Rockets, who were eliminated by SA Spurs in the quarter-finals last year.
Houston Rockets are coming into this season with a huge change. They traded most of their roster (Beverly, Dekker, Williams..) in attempt to acquire Chris Paul from Clippers. This move is quite bold but could prove itself as a great decision. For the answer, we will have to wait for the season to start and see. Houston Rockets come off as a more defensive team than an offensive one, which is not all bad. Of course, we can not expect them to knock down a lot of 3pts, but we can expect them to prevent the opponents to do so. In addition, with Paul as a PG, the team will most likely play slower compared to when Harden was in charge of PG position. As with any team with a big change like that, it will take some time to get in the rhythm, but once they do this could be another successful season for them. In the offseason, Houston Rockets performed well, despite losing to SA Spurs in the last match (97:106). They even managed to get to the Finals of Las Vegas Summer League, where they sadly lost to Atlanta Hawks (86:92). Despite all that results, the NBA season might show a different outcome and we will have the first insight of Rockets today.
Golden State Warriors in contrary to Rockets did not change their roster, they only thing they did is to re-sign (most of) their players and added Nick Young and Omri Casspi from the free agency. Well if we are fair there is not much to change, they have been a really strong team and I can see them continue this path for some time. They did not have the best preseason, but as said it’s not comparable to the “normal” season ahead.
With Houston Rockets going into this match with a slower approach and a strong defensive team I cannot imagine GSW dominating the game. It’s also the 1st game of the season for these two teams and it will most likely be used for knowing the opponent rather than going full throttle. Expect a match that will end with under 230 total points.
Prediction: Under 230.00 points
Odds: 1.84
