Huddersfield v Burnley – Premier League

Huddersfield v Burnley - Premier League

Huddersfield v Burnley - Premier League

In the 21st round of Premier League, we will see Huddersfield hosting Burnley at Kirklees Stadium, the home of Huddersfield.

Huddersfield are currently the last team in the league with an overall record of 2-4-14. They have been passed by Fulham after they went 1-2-0 in their last 3 games. Looking at how Huddersfield performed lately, it’s no surprise they have not won a match in the last 5. In fact, their losing streak is 7 games long, which translates to them failing to win since 25th of November when Huddersfield won against Wolves (0:2). In Huddersfield most recent match, they were even defeated by Fulham, who was sitting at the bottom of the league for the majority of the season and are now on a slow climb out of relegation zone. In the mentioned match we did not see a goal in the 1st half despite Huddersfield dominance with 65% ball possession, 6 goal attempts and 4 shots on goal while Fulham had only 35% ball possession, 4 goal attempts and 0 shots on goal. The second half showed a completely different picture with Fulham taking the match in their own hands, holding the ball for 53% of the time, had 10 goal attempts and 5 shots on goal, while Huddersfield had 47% ball possession, 3 goal attempts and only 1 shot on goal. Despite a total of 13 goal attempts, we did not see a goal until the dying moments of the match when Fulham scored (90’+1). They even got awarded a penalty in the 82nd minute but failed to convert it into a goal. Final score: 1:0, which was the first win for Fulham in the last 7 games played and 7th defeat in a row for Huddersfield.

The visiting side, Burnley are not in a much better position than Huddersfield, as they are currently 18th in the league which puts them in the relegation zone. In the 20 matches played, Burnley achieved a record of 4-3-13 and a 2-0-3 record in their last 5 games. In the span of those 5 games, they lost to Tottenham (1:0), Arsenal (3:1) and Everton (1:5), however, they managed to win against Brighton (1:0) and most recently West hame (2:0). In the match against West Ham, Burnley got an early lead in 15th minute, to which they added another goal in the 34th minute. The 2 goals scored were the only 2 we saw in the match despite a total of 19 (9-10) goal attempts and 6 shots on goal (3-3). All in all, the teams performed equally well, with Burnley using their possession better than West Ham who lost their 2nd match in the last 5 games. Final score: 2:0.

Huddersfield have a month week behind them as they fell to the bottom of the league after losing all of their last 7 games. In addition, Fulham managed to grab 5 points out of their last 3 games. Because Huddersfield lost to Fulham after a late goal, their position as the last team in the Premier League is more or less cemented for the proceedable future. They, however, have a chance to reduce the gap today if they win because Fulham is expected to struggle against Arsenal on 1st of January. Burnley, on the other hand, are happy with their recent win which puts them on the edge of the relegation zone and if Southampton does not somehow draw or win against Chelsea, Burnley would get out of the relegation zone with a win or even a draw against Huddersfield. At home, Huddersfield is the worst team in the Premier League with a 1-2-7 record and only 4 goals scored while they conceded 14 (1.4 goals/game). Burnley, on the other hand, are second-worst away team in the league with a 1-2-7 record with 7 goals scored and 21 conceded in the span of 10 away games. So what do we expect to happen? Huddersfield are still considered a favourite for this match despite their poor performances. The last 3 games between these two teams ended in a draw, most recently a 1:1 draws on 6th October 2018. For this match, we believe the match could see over 2 goals. Huddersfield knows how to score a goal at home and being that they will play against the worst defensive team in away games, we believe they will manage to do so once more. Burnley, on the other hand, does have some good attacking players who, if given a chance will convert it into a goal. With odds of 1.95 offered on over 2 goals, we will gladly take the bet.

Prediction: Over 2.00 goals
Odds: 1.96 SBOBET
