Huesca and Sevilla will meet each other at the Estadio El Alcoraz stadium, where they will play the 2nd H2H match of the season in the 28th round of LaLiga.
Huesca, the recently promoted team into LaLiga, are well on their way back to LaLiga2. As it stands now, Huesca are the last team in the league with a 4-7-14 record and a promising 2-2-1 record in the last 5 games played. In the course of the last 5 played, Huesca were defeated by Ath Bilbao (0:1), drew against Real Sociedad (0:0), Espanyol (1:1), and won against Valladolid (4:0) as well as Girona (2:0). While the team seems hopeless with only 19 points up to this point of the league, they have been fairly impressive in the last 5 games. A draw against Real Sociedad in an away game, and 4:0 win against Valladolid as well as 2:0 win against Girona look promising to say the least. Despite their good results recently, the real test will come today, as they face the 5th team in the league; Sevilla.
Sevilla, Sevilla… They really have a second half of the season to forget. After leading the league for the first part of the 2018/19 campaign, they have fallen on the hard ground and started underperforming. Just in the recent 4 games, Sevilla only managed to grab 1 point with a draw against Eibar (2:2). On the other side, they have been defeated by Celta Vigo (1:0), Villarreal (3:0) and most recently Barcelona (2:4). Furthermore, Sevilla are just terrible in away games, where they have been defeated in all of the last four games played. Not only did they lose last 4 away games, but they failed to score a single goal, whereas they conceded 8. Athl Bilbao, Real Madrid, Celta Vigo and Villarreal all managed to defeat Sevilla, but can Huesca join the club and become the 5th team to defeat the travelling Los Hispalenses?
When a 5th placed team gets paired with the last team in the league, we usually expect a dominant performance from the top of the table squad, but I am highly sceptical that will be the case here. The only reason why Sevilla are so high in the standings is their good performance in the first half of the season and decent record at home (7-3-2), but when it comes to away games, Sevilla are just bad. They have not won a match since September 29th, when they bested Eibar (1:3). I’ve said this match will be a test for Huesca, however now that I think about it… it will end up being a test for Sevilla instead. Huesca are without a doubt in a better form heading into this match compared to the opposition. They have managed to grab 8 points in the last 5 games, while Sevilla only managed to get 4. In addition to all that, Sevilla needs to get ready for the 1/8 finals of Europa League, which is why I am not convinced they will be 100% in this game against an opponent who can easily be underestimated. Home ground advantage and better overall form of Huesca against a disastrous form of Sevilla who are just days away from the 1/8 finals of Europa League spells out a great chance for Huesca to win their 5th game of the season. All in all, I believe Huesca are ready and able to win here or at least grab a point against struggling Sevilla.
