League of Legends – LCS Spring Week 9 – Day 1

100 Thieves vs Team SoloMid
Saturday, March 28 – 14:00 PST

Kicking off the final week of LCS 2020 Spring Split will be 100 Thieves and Team SoloMid, who will both be chasing a much-needed win in a bid to secure themselves a top-four finish, which earns them a direct bye into the second round.

Although TSM are guaranteed a top-six finish, 100 Thieves, can in theory still drop below the line if Team Liquid and Immortals win both of their games and 100T fail to win a single one. That will inspire better performance from 100T, however, they will be fighting an uphill battle, as they face TSM, who have been on the rise in recent weeks.

100 Thieves are priced at 2.62 to win, which might seem like an appealing bet to take, however, we like TSM here better, despite their iffy display against Immortals last week. The -5.5 kill handicap seems very achievable for TSM and while 100 Thieves are not a pushover, we would not feel comfortable siding against the improved TSM in games of such importance.

Prediction: TSM -5.5 kills – 1.98

Cloud9 vs Evil Geniuses
Saturday, March 28 – 15:00 PST

Cloud9 are already guaranteed a top seed in LCS, meaning this game is nothing more than a formality for them. Although this did not stop them from demolishing 100T and CLG last week, Evil Geniuses are arguably one of the most in-form teams in the league and if Cloud9 don’t take this game too seriously, they will suffer their second loss of the split.

Despite their poor start of the split, EG have significantly improved and there is no reason to have them priced as high as 3.26 for this match. Although they already have their ticket for the playoffs, securing a top-four seed is of an essence, which is why we can expect EG to show up here and show their worth.

Prediction: Evil Geniuses to win – 3.26 at Pinnacle
Prediction: Evil Geniuses +7.5 kills – 1.862 at Pinnacle

FlyQuest vs Team Liquid
Saturday, March 28 – 16:00 PST

It’s now or never for Team Liquid, who desperately need to produce a perfect week and hope either Immortals or 100 Thieves drop a game. Although TL haven’t been to impressive this split, given their internal struggles, we have a hard time believing they will be completely outclassed by FlyQuest.

This match should be a close one, as neither side can afford to lose, which is why betting on over 21.5 kills seems like the best bet to take. There are also arguments to be made to side with TL, but at only 1.714 offered on the reigning LCS champions, we will rather stick with the total kills line.

Prediction: Over 21.5 kills – 1.934 at Pinnacle

Golden Guardians vs Counter Logic Gaming
Saturday, March 28 – 17:00 PST

This match doesn’t mean much for either side, as we won’t see Golden Guardians nor Counter Logic Gaming in the playoffs this split. That said, there must be one winner here and based on what these two sides have shown in recent weeks, CLG look like a better pick.

They might not be one of the top contenders in the LCS, nor are they a playoffs team per se, but their improvement is obvious and they are more than capable of defeating the likes of Golden Guardians, who are a mediocre team at most. Their macro play is disastrous, their drafts are just weird and their results are not that much better compared to CLG.

Since Week 6, CLG defeated TSM and Team Liquid, while Golden Guardians only managed to pocket W against Immortals and Dignitas. In all fairness, the odds here should be the other way around and as long as CLG are priced above 2.1, this is a bet worth taking a look at.

Prediction: CLG to win – 2.13 at Pinnacle

Dignitas vs Immortals
Saturday, March 28 – 18:00 PST

The odds offered on this match seem spot on. While Immortals are not a team that we see fit to compete for playoffs, they have still shown more compared to the inconsistent Dignitas, who have been in a freefall since the start of the split.

That being said, both sides can be very inconsistent with their performances, which makes predicting their fixtures incredibly tough. Immortals can one day look like a top-five team in the league and disappoint the next, while Dignitas can get ahead early and use their advantage to stop their opponents or fall behind and lose the game. This seems like a 50/50 match, and although Dignitas are priced at 2.05, we would avoid betting on this one.
