League of Legends – LEC Spring Week 7 – Day 2

SK Gaming vs Schalke 04
Saturday, March 7 – 17:00 CET

SK Gaming stood no chance against Fnatic on Friday, when they lost in a rather humiliating fashion, however, they had their moments in the early game, which is a plus in this rather dull time for this squad. Schalke 04, on the other side, looked solid in their match against MAD Lions and could have realistically won the match however they (again) decided for a very questionable Elder Drake takedown and MAD Lions took their opportunity to backdoor their adversaries to win the match.

Losing by 10+ kills is humiliating, but losing the way Schalke did last night is on a whole another level. What’s even funnier, or maybe it’s rather sad, is that the exact same thing has happened for the third time in a row. So it surely won’t happen again… right?

The problem with Schalke 04 is not that they have bad players, but it’s their disastrous decision-making. They did improve since the roster swap, but it’s clear that they need a proper leader who can prevent such mistakes from happening. That said, SK are not a very strong team in that regard either.

Pinnacle has Schalke 04 priced at 1.58 to win, which is a bit too low for us to bet on. Instead, we like the look of 1.81 offered on over 22.5 kills. Schalke have proven numerous times before they’re not afraid to fight, while SK Gaming can look very deadly in the early stages of the game. We expect a high-tempo match with plenty of kills on the bard and 23 in total seems easily reachable.

Prediction: Over 22.5 kills – 1.81 at Pinnacle

Vitality vs Excel Esports
Saturday, March 7 – 18:00 CET

Excel are entering this bout as heavy favorites, priced at 1.233 to come out ahead, while Vitality are priced at 4.24, which seems fair.

Vitality are officially the worst team in the league with a 1-12 record, which means they will not be entering the playoffs. Excel, on the other side, desperately need a win here to catch up to Rogue and take a shot at finishing in the top 6.

Although Excel still seem like a team that is lacking in quality and most of all consistency to compete with the top teams in the league, they are improving. Looking back, Excel looked very solid against Misfits on Friday and were even in a substantial lead, but still found a way to throw the game due to some questionable decisions. That, however, does not take away the fact that Excel went toe-to-toe with Misfits who are 9-4 team.

Vitality might have their moments of greatness, but even those are rather rare. It would be a massive shock if they can produce anything against Excel this Saturday and although Excel disappointed on Friday, we expect them to switch into a higher gear here, due to the importance of the game.

Excel are priced at 1.892 to win the match with at least eight kills to spare, which is the best bet to make here, considering Vitality are not too efficient in getting kills on the board.

Prediction: Excel -7.5 kills – 1.892 at Pinnacle

Rogue v MAD Lions
Saturday, March 7 – 19:00 CET

A crucial match in the playoffs race will see Rogue take on MAD Lions, who will hope they can repeat their success from Week 3 and take down Rogue for the second time.

Although MAD Lions seemed like they’re on the rise, their bubble seemingly burst, as they failed to impress with what they have shown in the last two fixtures. On the final day of Week 6, MAD Lions lost to Excel, and struggled against Schalke on Friday, when they won solely due to Schalke’s misplay.

Rogue, on the other side, look like a very solid team. They completely trashed Vitality on Friday and looked solid against OG in Week 5. Although they did end up losing to OG, Rogue arguably lost due to their poor draft. Yuumi and Ezreal simply doesn’t work and we hope Rogue came to realize that. Steven “Hans Sama” Liv is much better off on more aggressive ADCs, which allows him to carry games and if he can get his hands on a carry ADC, Rogue should enjoy a massive advantage in the bottom lane.

As for our prediction, it’s hard to go against Rogue. They looked far better in recent weeks and should have a fairly easy time against MAD Lions, that is, if they can approach the draft the right way. Pinnacle is offering 1.943 on -4.5 kills, which quite generous and another bet worth taking a look at, as MAD Lions will struggle to keep this one close.

Prediction: Rogue to win – 1.649 at Pinnacle
Prediction: Rogue -4.5 kills – 1.943 at Pinnacle

Misfits v Origen
Saturday, March 7 – 20:00 CET

Misfits put up some solid performance so far, but in all fairness, they looked a bit weaker compared to OG who tend to be more consistent and overall a better team. Nonetheless, we can’t forget Misfits already bested Origen a couple of weeks ago and from what we have seen in that match, these two sides match up nicely.

Pinnacle has Misfits priced at 2.6 to upset Origen, which is a very tempting bet, as there is a realistic chance the bunnies just might be able to come out ahead, however, we don’t like siding against Origen, except when they play against either Fnatic or G2. Instead, it’s the Over 21.5 kills line that caught our attention.

This will be a crucial match to win for both sides, which should inspire a higher tempo of play and ultimately result in a few more kills than what we are used to seeing. A close and slightly longer match might be on the cards and 22 kills in total seems like a reachable goal.

Prediction: Over 21.5 kills – 1.934 at Pinnacle

G2 Esports v Fnatic
Saturday, March 7 – 21:00 CET

The match of the week will see Fnatic take on G2 Esports, in hopes to avenge their defeat from Week 3 and cement themselves as the alpha dogs of LEC.

G2 Esports are entering this bout as favorites, priced at 1.628, which overrates them a bit in our books. Although they are still the top European team, G2 looked very shaky in recent weeks. They managed to bounce back with wins over SK Gaming, Vitality and Origen on Friday, however, but we are still not convinced this is the best version of G2.

Fnatic on the other side looked far more consistent with their performances and are entering this bout on a five-game win streak, which they earned against Rogue, OG, Misfits, Schalke and SK Gaming.

Historically G2 Esports are the better team, but in this case, bookmakers made a mistake of pricing Fnatic at 2.30. If there is a day to bet on Fnatic to defeat G2 it’s today and at 2.3, this is a betting opportunity that is hard to ignore.

Prediction: Fnatic to win – 2.30 at Pinnacle

Best Bet: Rogue -4.5 kills – 1.943 at Pinnacle
