In the 14th round of Premier League, we will see Leicester hosting Watford at King Power Stadium in hopes to win their 2nd match at the home stadium.
The home side, Leicester are currently 10th in the league, with an overall record of 5-3-5 and a home record of 2-2-2. Looking at how they are performing, Leicester has played a draw in both of the last 2 matches, against Burnley (0:0) and Brighton (1:1). Although they got a point from each match, I am not pleased with those 2 results. Against Burnley, Leicester did not manage to score a goal, which is surprising, because Burnley is not particularly good at defending their own net (27 goals conceded in 13 games). Against Brighton, Leicester did score a goal, but the issue there was that they only managed to shot on goal 3 times in 90 minutes. Looking at their last 5 games, Leicester scored only 4 times mostly against the teams that have conceded on average about 2 goals per game this season.
Watford is coming into this match as a 9th placed team in the Premier League, with an overall record of 6-2-5. In their last 5 games, they have won 2, lost 2 and draw 1. IN the course of the last 3 games, Watford lost against Newcastle (1:0), drawn against Southampton (1:1) and lost against Liverpool in their most recent match on 24th of November. Looking at their away record, it’s the same as Leicester home record (2-2-2). Much like Leicester, Watford has a problem scoring, at least in their away games. With only 7 goals in the 6 away games, they don’t represent a real threat as an away team. As for defending their goal, Watford has conceded 17 goals, 6 of which in away games. Here I must also mention, 4 of the goals were scored by Arsenal and Tottenham who both have a good offense. All in all, Watford is doing a good job defending their goal on the road, until they are put against a top tier team.
Leicester and Watford have been performing equally good this season. In addition, they both have equally good home-away records. With all the things they have in common, there is also their poor offense and a solid defense. Their last 3 H2H matches ended in a total of 8 goals, but I do not expect this match to end with more than 2 goals. Watford defends their goal well in away games and Leicester has not impressed me with their attackers in recent matches. Expect a low scoring match today.
Prediction: Under 2.50 goals
