Team Liquid vs FlyQuest
Sunday, February 7 – 13:00 PST
Team Liquid come off as a very predictable team, which is not terrible, since we know what to expect of them, while most other teams in the league simply don’t possess enough quality to counter that. FlyQuest, on the other side, are quite an enigma of sorts.
Their drafts are not particularly bad but I can’t help but feel like they’re in complete contrast to what FlyQuest want to achieve. On a more positive note, they have shown a lot of fire in their game against Evil Geniuses even after they were behind, so at least they aren’t afraid to fight and seem like the type of team that will be involved in exciting games.
All things considered, Liquid should win this match, but I am not ready to take them with an 8.5 kill handicap, which seems a bit too high for their playstyle. FlyQuest with a +8.5 kill handicap, however, seems like a very solid bet.
Prediction: FlyQuest +8.5 kills – 1.854 at Pinnacle
Evil Geniuses vs Golden Guardians
Sunday, February 7 – 14:00 PST
Similar to the match above, this one should end with the favorites winning, but unlike Liquid, Evil Geniuses are a very volatile team that struggles with their consistency. Much of that is due to their overly-aggressive playstyle, which will eventually saw them drop the ball against an underdog.
Golden Guardians are similar in a way that they will force aggressive plays because they know they don’t have good enough individual players to compete with most of the league. So it’s reasonable to see them introduce some chaos in their games, which might help them pick up a win here and there.
I would consider betting on Golden Guardians with a 7.5 kill handicap, but I’m not ready to risk my money on a game that can easily turn into a complete stomp for EG. This is a pass for me.

Cloud9 vs Immortals
Sunday, February 7 – 15:00 PST
Siding with the underdogs early into the season is usually the way to go, but you have to know when the underdogs have a realistic chance of taking the W and where that’s just way out of their reach.
Immortals enter this match off a loss against Golden Guardians which is a game they should have arguably won. Even though their record is not particularly impressive, I must say Immortals have been playing fairly decent all things considered, so there is definitely a world where they put up a respectable fight tonight.
Cloud9 have looked very dominant in their opening two games of the season – but as seen in the Lock-In, this team is far from perfect. They can look very strong one day, but fall apart the next, which makes them a very scary team to bet on when faced with an underdog.
Pinnacle offers 1.757 on Immortals to secure at least 7 kills which is way too generous. Cloud9 are bound to make at least a couple of mistakes in lanes and give up a few unnecessary kills – as they usually do – making this a bet I can’t pass on.
Prediction: Immortals over 6.5 kills – 1.757 at Pinnacle
Counter Logic Gaming vs TSM
Sunday, February 7 – 16:00 PST
Everyone seems to be betting against TSM after their iffy performances this season and while I’m not one to defend them for their showing, people seems to be overreacting after only two games of the Spring split. TSM might have lost to FlyQuest, but they had a massive lead, whereas you can’t blame TSM for losing against C9 yesterday.
As expected, TSM will likely look very bad for the first couple of weeks, before they find the needed synergy, but that doesn’t take away from the quality of players they possess. TSM are actually much stronger than how it may seem, but they’re at the same time also much weaker than how it looks. This doesn’t make sense but it doesn’t need to.
CLG looked good in the clown fiesta against 100T, but this is also the same team that has lost to Dignitas, so it’s hard to say how good they can be. This is a clash between two teams that you just don’t know what to expect from. This is a pass for me.

100 Thieves vs Dignitas
Sunday, February 7 – 17:00 PST
As much as I wasn’t too convinced with 100T and their showing against CLG, they’re still a very strong team that seemingly still doesn’t get enough credit for what they have shown so far. That said, they can have their moments of weakness, so perhaps it’s fair to have some reservations with them.
One thing we can be sure of, however, is that 100T like to play at a very high tempo, which could make them a very solid team for under minutes bets this season – at least in games where they don’t face slower teams, so there is some appeal on the under 32:00 minutes bet for this match.
Outside of that, this should be a fairly one-sided match largely because 100T field much better players in all positions. They might have looked a bit sloppy yesterday, but I don’t expect another such showing tonight.
Prediction: 100 Thieves -7.5 kills – 1.952 at Pinnacle
