LOL LCS Spring Week 6 – Day 3 Betting Previews and Predictions
FlyQuest vs Dignitas
Sunday, March 14 – 13:00 PST
There is not a lot to be said about this game. Dignitas have been performing extremely well this split and while they have slipped up a couple of times (against Liquid and C9 this week), they’re still easily much stronger than FlyQuest who haven’t done anything to impress me this season.
At this price, taking Dignitas is a no-brainer pick for me.
Prediction: Dignitas to win – 1.699 Pinnacle
Golden Guardians vs TSM
Sunday, March 14 – 14:00 PST
How fittingly it was to see Golden Guardians wake up and play out one of their best games of the season against Counter Logic Gaming yesterday, but even after such a performance, you can’t really make a case for GG against TSM.
TSM are significantly stronger than CLG so with that logic you would expect them to win, however, the question is how to bet on this match, as there is no way I’m taking TSM at 1.184. One option would be to take the 9.5 kill handicap, but with such a high line it would make more sense to take the side of GG since nine kills is not a small number for an LCS match. Nothing appeals to me for this match, so I’ll pass.
No prediction
100 Thieves vs Team Liquid
Sunday, March 14 – 15:00 PST
100 Thieves looked improved, but they’ve also faced weak sides so it’s hard to draw any conclusions from their wins and it’s even more difficult to find a reason to believe they can achieve the same success against Team Liquid.
Despite their improvement, 100T have a lot of issues they need to work on, namely their consistency. One thing going for them is that they’re set to face a team that is coming into this match off one of their worst performances of the season, however, one poor showing doesn’t convince me 100T are in any way better than TL.
This could be a close match, but I can’t make myself bet against TL, who I have predicted will win the LCS title, and I continue to believe so.
Prediction: Team Liquid to win – 1.543 Pinnacle
Evil Geniuses vs Counter Logic Gaming
Sunday, March 14 – 16:00 PST
Counter Logic Gaming have suffered a devastating loss yesterday and enter this match as 2.34 underdogs, whereas Evil Geniuses are priced at 1.609. Whether either side is worth a bet is up to debate, but due to EG’s volatility and the fact that CLG are capable of much more than what they’ve shown yesterday, I wouldn’t like to pick either side.
Evil Geniuses should definitely win this match more times than not, but it’s not like CLG are the type of team that will just roll over and die. They have shown enough for me to believe they can compete with the best and at least keep the series relatively close. Pinnacle offers 1.869 on this match ending in at least 26 kills, which is a good bet for a game involving EG and a resilient squad such as CLG.
Although only eight out of 17 CLG games ended in overs, we have to note over half of their games can be ignored since they haven’t fielded a full squad. On the other side, 10 out of 17 of EG games ended in overs.
Prediction: Over 25.5 kills – 1.869 Pinnacle
Immortals vs Cloud9
Sunday, March 14 – 17:00 PST
Cloud9 demolished Dignitas yesterday in what was a painful match to watch, however, even that win hardly justifies the large kill handicap on offer for this match. Although I have spent most of the split talking about how bad Immortals are and the possibility of them getting better in the Summer, they have started improving much sooner and usually do relatively well against big teams.
They haven’t really won any big matches outside of Week 1 win against Team Liquid and two head-to-head wins against EG, but having the ability to pick them with a 9.5 kill handicap against a team that wins with huge margins in just about 50% of their games is an appealing option.
C9 should be winning games like this one, but with this kill handicap, you have to take Immortals and hope C9 don’t blow them out of the game.
Prediction: Immortals +9.5 kill – 1.800 Pinnacle
