LCS Summer Week 4 – Day 3
When: Sunday, June 27 – 13:00 – 17:00 PDT
Number of Games: 5
100 Thieves did us a solid one with their performance against Cloud9 yesterday, securing us yet another winner with our LCS 2021 Summer betting picks. We have a few more games to look at today, and a few more bets to place for the final round of LCS 2021 Summer Week 4.
Evil Geniuses vs Dignitas
Sunday, June 27 – 13:00 PDT
Dignitas beat FlyQuest yesterday, but that’s hardly worth celebrating. Not necessarily because Dignitas looked bad, but largely because anyone can look good against FlyQuest.
As noted yesterday, Dignitas are in free fall, and one win against FlyQuest doesn’t change my perception of this team. With all the internal drama happening, Dignitas will need a lot more than a win against one of the weakest teams in the league to get back on their feet.
A win against Evil Geniuses would be what Dignitas need to regain some confidence, which doesn’t seem like an unachievable goal. That’s mainly because EG are the type of team that can lose to anyone – as they have shown numerous times before.
That, however, is also the only argument you could make in favour of Dignitas. They’re not playing well and will need Evil Geniuses to blunder the match to stand a chance.
EG enter this match off a win against TSM where they showcased just how deadly they can be. Beating TSM isn’t as easy as it may seem, and doing so with a 19-4 record is even more impressive. I don’t like to overreact to short flashes of greatness, but EG are clearly the better team, and they should be able to show that tonight – as long as they don’t do the “EG thing” choke against a weaker opponent.
EG are priced at 1.606 to win, which is a solid number given the quality gap between the teams.
Immortals vs 100 Thieves
Sunday, June 27 – 14:00 PDT
100 Thieves continue to impress with their showings. They took down Cloud9 yesterday in quite a commanding fashion and further solidified themselves as one of the best LCS teams.
While 100 Thieves deserve a lot of praise for their performances, so do Immortals, who have emerged out of the chaos and are now easily one of the top-four teams in the league. It remains to be seen for how long will they manage to keep their streak going, but they’re playing extremely well currently.
Immortals enter this match as underdogs (2.88 at Pinnacle), which makes sense, but the price underestimates them a bit. Immortals already won against Cloud9 and 100 Thieves and are on a four-game winning streak.
While 100 Thieves field more talent, this is a spot where you should consider Immortals as potential punch-up underdogs. They have yet to show any apparent signs of weaknesses and have played well even in games which they lost.
A bet on Immortals to upset 100 Thieves is worth a shot, but considering how good both these teams have been, a +6.5 kill handicap bet (1.884 at Pinnacle) on the outsiders makes a lot more sense.
Team Liquid vs TSM
Sunday, June 27 – 15:00 PDT
Team Liquid continues to show stable they are. Although their stomping of Counter Logic Gaming deserves some praise, I was mostly impressed with how well they’re handling their “drama” situation.
This is largely due to the veteran figures on the team keeping the roster together through everything that is happening. As a result, Liquid are playing well; however, they’re not nearly as good as they were last split – they’re slowly getting there.
TSM lost to Evil Geniuses yesterday, but I wouldn’t overreact to that result. When EG are “on” they can defeat anyone, just as they can lose to anyone, so there’s no harm in TSM losing to them. Outside of that loss, TSM have been playing well and should be considered as a serious candidate for a deep playoffs run.
Due to their consistency throughout the split, TSM are priced as favourites for this match (1.862 at Pinnacle), which seems fair, but the price overrates them slightly. Mainly, it’s the odds on Liquid (1.961) that underestimate them. TSM seem like a better team, but not by much.
There is some value on Liquid for this match, but not enough for me. This one is a pass.
Golden Guardians vs FlyQuest
Sunday, June 27 – 16:00 PDT
FlyQUest enter this match on a six-game losing streak. They lost against Digitas, TSM, Immortals, 100 Thieves, Team Liquid, and Golden Guardians during that stretch.
Although losing against the likes of Liquid, TSM, 100 Thieves, and Immortals isn’t exactly shocking, it’s their losses against Dignitas and Golden Guardians that show just how bad this team really is. They have essentially lost against the weakest teams in the league, making them the worst-performing side in the LCS.
I don’t believe Golden Guardians will achieve much this split, nor do I expect them to finish the split outside of the bottom two. However, they’re still playing better league than FlyQuest, so at least they have that going for them.
For some reason, Golden Guardians enter this match s underdogs (2.23 at Pinnacle), while FlyQuest are priced as high as 1.671, which makes completely no sense. FlyQuest might have better individual talent on the roster, but their performances don’t show that.
At this price, Golden Guardians are an easy bet. They might lack individual talent, but they’re facing a team that is a complete dumpster fire.
Counter Logic Gaming vs Cloud9
Sunday, June 27 – 17:00 PDT
Counter Logic Gaming haven’t looked too good of late, but they had to endure a very tough schedule. They had to face Immortals, Team Liquid and are now set to face Cloud9, which isn’t the most exciting schedule to have.
They lost both of their games this week and are expected to drop the ball against here. However, they seem a bit underrated at 2.93 (Pinnacle).
It’s not so much about CLG being better than what the odds suggest, but more about Cloud9 not deserving to be priced as low as 1.42. Cloud9 are a huge enigma since their numbers are excellent, yet the eye test proves that something isn’t clicking.
Going purely off their stats, the odds offered on Cloud9 are more than fair, but if you were to watch a few of their games, you wouldn’t be too optimistic about the reigning LCS champions. This puts us in a very difficult position when picking out the right bet.
Based on what we have seen from CLG and Cloud9, there should be enough value to back CLG at 2.93, but if we take into account Cloud9’s strength on paper, a bet on CLG would be like throwing money out of the window.
As weak as Cloud9 seemed to be, they usually do well against weaker teams and seem to make the most from the resources they’re given. CLG are also a way to hit-or-miss team for us to recommend a bet on them.
