Macarthur FC will look to extend their two-game winning streak on Friday when they play host to Perth Glory at Campbelltown Stadium for the first time in history. Here is our free betting preview along with a free betting prediction.
Macarthur look set for a top-six finish
Macarthur FC sit in fourth place on the A-League ladder ahead of this match with a 7-2-5 record and 23 points. Although a fairly solid run for the league newcomers, Macarthur are still three points short of catching up to the Central Coast Mariners, as well as one and two points short of Melbourne City in third and Adelaide United in second.
Looking back, Macarthur managed three wins from their last five outings against Sydney FC (1-0), Western United (2-1), and Wellington Phoenix (1-0), albeit were far less successful against Mariners (0-2) and Melbourne City (0-3). Regardless of those two losses, Macarthur seem to do more than fine against any mid- and bottom-table teams, which should be enough for a comfortable top-six finish by the end of the season.
One thing that must be noted is that Macarthur haven’t been doing too well at home, where they managed a rather mediocre 2-2-2 record in six outings. On a more positive note, they’re undefeated in their last three home games against Western United (2-1), Adelaide United (4-0), and WS Wanderers (2-2).
Perth Glory counting on their defense to get better
Perth Glory managed five wins in 12 outings so far (5-2-5) and 17 points, which is good for seventh place on the ladder. Although Perth are whole nine points behind the league leaders’ Mariners, they still have two games in hand, which puts them in a solid position to climb their way into the top-six and surpass Sydney FC who hold 19 points from 13 fixtures.
Perth enters this match with a 1-2-2 record from their last five outings, which includes two losses against Wellington Phoenix (0-3) and WS Wanderers (0-3), two draws with Mariners (2-2) and Sydney FC (1-1), as well as one win against Newcastle Jets (2-1). Although not exactly spectacular results, Perth deserve some praise for their draws with Sydney and Mariners, the latter of which came on the road.
What may concern some is that Perth have conceded 25 goals in 12 games, allowed Jets to shot the ball 22 times in their last match, and have before that let Sydney produce 16 shots. That said, they’ve conceded only once in each bout.
Macarthur FC v Perth Glory Betting Picks
Even though Perth Glory haven’t exactly impressed by giving up that many chances in their recent outings, you have to give them some praise for conceding only two goals in their last two. And it’s not like we can praise Macarthur too much for their recent showings either.
The Bulls haven’t impressed with what they showed against Wellington and while they ended up winning, the match was much closer than how it should have been. Macarthur shot 6/13 and even managed a 56% ball possession, yet still won by only one goal.
Earlier this month, Macarthur also lost to Melbourne City 0-3 and went down 1-4 against Western United only a couple of weeks prior, which is not a good look. They might have looked better of late, but two narrow wins against Western United and the Nix don’t convince me the hosts will have an easy time against Perth on Friday.
Prediction: Perth Glory +0.25 Asian Handicap – 2.04 at Pinnacle
