It’s been a while since our last League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational article got posted, but you have to forgive us as we were updating our website. Regardless, we are now back with full coverage of Rumble Stage Day four fixtures. Here are our best bets for games played on Monday, May 17.
PSG Talon vs Royal Never Give Up
Monday, May 17 – 13:00 GMT
In our 2021 LoL MSI Tournament Preview, we backed PSG Talon to reach the finals, and we continue to be bullish on this team. They might have had a few slip-ups during the group stage, but this side is showing rapid improvement and continue to impress us with their showings.
There are arguments to be made that Royal Never Give Up are a far superior team – at the end of the day they hail from a much stronger league – but even that doesn’t justify the betting odds on this match.
Not only have PSG Talon beaten RNG just yesterday, but this is still a best-of-one (Bo1) match, where teams’ better quality doesn’t necessarily show. At very least PSG Talon should keep this one close.
Prediction: PSG Talon to win – 3.11
Prediction: PSG Talon +7.5 kills – 1.909
MAD Lions vs DWG KIA
Monday, May 17 – 14:00 GMT
DWG KIA defeated MAD Lions yesterday and they should come out ahead today as well. Despite their slip-ups and shaky showings, DWG KIA are still a much better team than MAD Lions, who don’t seem to have the tools to match the Koreans.
There is a world where MAD Lions win, but a lot will have to go in their favour for that to happen and that includes more than just getting an early lead. Yesterday, the match between these two ended in just 13 kills and I could imagine another low-scoring fixture today.
That said, the total kill line proved to be far too volatile at 2021 MSI for me to pull the trigger. At 1.363, there is some value with DWG KIA, but I’m not too big on backing the favourites in Bo1 games.

Cloud9 vs Royal Never Give Up
Monday, May 17 – 15:00 GMT
Royal Never Give Up won this bout last time out and are expected to do it again today. What concerns me is that Cloud9 might already be eliminated from the MSI at this point, however, it’s not like that should affect them too much considering they need to prepare themselves for this bout regardless of how other fixtures play out.
Cloud9 will likely continue the LoL Championship Series’ (LCS) tradition of disappointing their fans at an international tournament, but it’s not like this team will not put in the effort to at least pickup consolation wins. While I wasn’t too excited about C9 heading into the tournament, they have shown some solid performances and were very close to picking up a few (more) wins.
Some may say Cloud9 are showing some of the best performances of any NA team, even though their results don’t necessarily show that. Whether C9 are just unlucky or were they just marginally worse than (almost) all their opponents is up to debate, but I have faith in this team to stand their own against any tea they face.
At this price, I’m ready to take Cloud9 to beat RNG. They might be weaker individually, but RNG have proven they are not immune to making mistakes, which is something C9 could take advantage of.
Prediction: Cloud9 to win – 3.62
Prediction: Cloud9 +8.5 kills – 1.840
Pentanet.gg vs MAD Lions
Monday, May 17 – 15:00 GMT
I said how I don’t like betting on the favorites in Bo1s and I particularly don’t like that idea when the other team is the weakest team at the tournament. Games like this put immense pressure on the top dogs to perform, which can result in uncharacteristic playstyle, and even upset losses.
At the same time, I don’t believe Pentanet.gg are good enough to win, so betting on them even at 7.34 makes no sense to me.
One bet I have considered taking is MAD Lions to secure over 19.5 kills, but that’s a very high number which would require Pentanet.gg to put up enough resistance to extend the game into 30+ minutes or a complete stomp from the European side. Too risky for me.

DWG KIA vs PSG Talon
Monday, May 17 – 16:00 GMT
PSG Talon should have arguably won their last clash with DWG KIA, but they made a few too many mistakes for which they got punished. With that in mind, it would make sense to side with them here, but my gut feeling tells me to avoid this one.
DWG KIA haven’t been playing too well this tournament, but they’re still 5-1 so they have to be doing something right. As mentioned before, teams need to play near perfectly to defeat the Koreans and while PSG Talon are capable of that, I am ready to pass on this one.
That said, the kill handicap bet appeals to me. DWG KIA are completely fine to win their games with a two-kill lead and aren’t exactly a kill-hungry team. If you allow them to kill you over and over again, they’ll obviously do it, but it’s not like racking up kills is their priority.
That combined with the fact that PSG Talon are good enough to keep this one relatively close, makes PSG Talon with a +7.5 kill handicap a solid bet.
Prediction: PSG Talon +7.5 kills – 1.769
Pentanet.gg vs Cloud9
Monday, May 17 – 17:00 GMT
As mentioned above, there is a chance Cloud9 will already be eliminated from the MSI if things don’t end in their favour. While I believe Cloud9 will put in work to prepare themselves for the RNG clash, they likely won’t think too much about this one.
If Cloud9 get eliminated by this point, we can expect a for-fun fixture i.e. action-packed bout with some clowning around. What that usually results in? – Plenty of kills.
I’ll wait before I bet on this one and see what Cloud9’s situation is. If they get eliminated, overs is the play, otherwise, I would not bet on this one.
Prediction: Over 26.5 kills – 1.869 (If Cloud9 are eliminated)
