Minnesota Timberwolves are currently at 12th position in the West, with a record of 17-27. As mentioned before, the record they are holding is not that good, but things have been improving for them recently. In the past 10 games, Timberwolves won 6 times, which is a decent result. But looking at home games, Minnesota has been performing better. They managed to win 4 out of 5 times. So it’s safe to say Timberwolves are not easy to beat at their home ground. In their previous match, Timberwolves lost to Pacers (103:109), which is disappointing in a way that they were on their way to 4th consecutive win and 5th consecutive win at home. The match as a whole was relatively close for the whole 48 minutes. Pacers got the lead of 5 point in the opening 12 minutes (20:25). Minnesota tried to answer that in the 2nd quarter, but they weren’t able to do so. Pacers even managed to add another point to their lead (26:27). So going into 2nd half, Pacers had a 6 point lead, which they held for the whole of the match. Every quarter in 2nd half ended in a tie (24:24), (33:33). Looking at statistics, Minnesota had 44.4% shot accuracy, 11 turnovers and 13 steals. The visiting side ended the match with 51.9% accuracy, 18 turnovers and 7 steals. Top scorers of the match; Towns (33pts), George (32pts) and Turner (23pts).
The visiting side today is without the doubt the worst team in the NBA this season. Brooklyn Nets are in 15th position in the East with 9-37 record to their name. In their last 10 matches, Nets won only once, against New Orleans Pelicans (114:143), which was a surprising win to say the least. Nets are coming into this match after a loss against Cleveland Cavaliers (124:116). The loss was expected, but Nets did fight back pretty good against last year’s champions. After the 1st half, Cavaliers already had 8 point lead, to which they added another 13 points in 3rd quarter. Despite that, the last 12 minutes were in Nets favour (30:43). It may be due to the fact Cavaliers “did not try as hard anymore”, but I don’t like to look at it that way. Of course Nets had little to none chance to win the match but they showed us that they should not be underestimated. All in all, Nets shot 49.4% from the field, had 11 turnovers and 9 steals. Cleveland shot with 53.3% accuracy, had 14 turnovers and 4 steals. Top scorers of the match; James (31pts), Irving (28pts) and Kilpatrick (18pts).
Verdict & Prediction
On the paper, Minnesota looks like a better opponent, and they might be. There are 2 things that will work in their favour. First one will be home advantage and the second one is them being well rested for this match, whereas Nets played their match a few hours ago. Nonetheless, bookies are offering us good odds even with 11.5 advantage for the visitors. This is something we mustn’t miss. Of course Nets may struggle today but I don’t see them losing by more than 11 points. My prediction for today is Nets +11.5 points.
Prediction: Brooklyn Nets +11.5
Odds: 1.88 Pinnacle
