Montreal Impact entered the MLS league in 2012 as the 3rd Canadian club. Only 3 years later, they became the first Canadian Club and 2nd MLS club to advance into the final of the CONCACAF Champions League, when they finished runners up behind Club America. As for other achievements, they have won the Canadian Championship in 2008, 2013, 2014. Last season, Montreal Impact finished 7th in their conference and 15th overall with a 14-16-4 record and 46 points. With 46 points, they barely missed the chance to qualify for the MLS Cup Playoffs, which was the 2nd consecutive year Impact failed to qualify.
Head Coach: Rémi Garde
Rémi Garde, the former Lyon and Aston Villa coach will lead Montreal Impact in the MLS for the 3rd consecutive year, in hopes to finish the 2019 season with a better result compared to last 2 years. In his coaching career, he has won the Coupe de France in 2011/12 season as well as Trophée des Champions in 2012 with Lyon. While he has been successful with the French team, he has not yet won any silverware with Montreal Impact. The closest he got was in 2017 when the Impact were eliminated by Toronto in the finals of the Canadian Championship.

Expectations for the 2019 season
Just recently, Montreal Impact added a Nigerian striker Orji Okwonkwo to their squad who joined Impact on a loan from Bologna. This 21-year-old striker has scored 3 goals in 27 Serie A games. In addition, he has won the FIFA u17 World Cup in 2015 with Nigeria. Rémi Garde put a lot of hopes into this striker and if he proves to be a good asset to the offensive line, we just might see Montreal Impact breaking the streak of 2 consecutive seasons without playoffs spot. Still, I would not bet my money on them achieving Playoffs this season.
