Nagoya Grampus vs Kawasaki Frontale
When: Thursday, April 29 – 15:00 JST
Where: Toyota Stadium in Toyota City, Aichi Prefecture, Japan
Weather: Rain, 17°C
Nagoya Grampus vs Kawasaki Frontale is the clash between the two best Japanese teams. Kawasaki are currently at the top of the J1 League table, with three points ahead of the second-placed Nagoya.
Although the season is still in its early stages (it ends in December 2021), the result of this game could have a big impact on how the title race unveils.
Another reason why Nagoya Grampus vs Kawasaki Frontale is a super-interesting match is that it’s the clash between the best attack and the best defense in the league.
Kawasaki have scored 30 goals in 12 games this season (10 goals more than the second-highest scoring team), while Nagoya have conceded just three goals so far.
Nagoya’s Defence Has Been Nothing Short of Brilliant
Nagoya Grampus have conceded only three goals this season. One of those happened in the opening round of the J1 League, when they beat Avispa Fukuoka 2-1 on the road.
The other two goals came in their 2-1 loss to Sagan Tosu at home two rounds ago. In the other 10 games, Nagoya kept a clean sheet.
Nagoya have been impressive at the back not only in 2021 but for a long time. Even looking at the 2020 season, they have never conceded more than three goals, which only goes to show this team’s defence is difficult to break apart.
It happened on two occasions, one of which was the game against Kawasaki Frontale played in October – Kawasaki won that game 3-0. However, the last time these two met at Toyota Stadium, the match ended 1-0 in favor of the home side.
Kawasaki’s Attack Look Unstoppable
Kawasaki Frontale have scored at least a goal in every single match since November 2020. This season, they’re already at 30 goals, after 12 rounds.
Thanks to their high-scoring performances, this team has collected 32 points from 10 wins and two draws. They’re still to lose a game in the new J1 League season.
Leandro Damiao is Frontale’s best player, with seven goals and six assists. The Brazilian forward has scored only one goal in April; instead of him, Japanese midfielder Akihiro Ienaga took over the reins as Kawasaki’s key man of the month.
Apart from doing extremely well in the attack, Kawasaki Frontale have also been impressive at the back. In fact, they have conceded only eight goals so far.
There are only four other teams in the league that have conceded under 10 goals so far. Still, Nagoya are, by far, the best defensive team in the league.
Nagoya Grampus vs Kawasaki Frontale Betting Picks
Oddsmakers believe of Kawasaki Frontale as big favorites. However, Nagoya mustn’t be underestimated. The fact that Nagoya won this bout last time out at home proves they have the tools to deal with Frontale.
This team is superb in the defense and if they manage to score a goal, Kawasaki will have serious problems trying to equalize.
