New England Revolution v Houston Dynamo – MLS Betting Preview and Prediction
On June 30th, we will get a chance to see a cross-conference matchup between New England Revolution and Houston Dynamo. The match will take place at Gillette Stadium, the home of New England Revolution.
A new coach brought improvement to New England
Since New England decided to sack Brad Friedel, their results have drastically improved. Talking about Brad Friedel, I am not even sure why he was appointed as a head coach at the first place. Anyway, the decision to bring Bruce Arena to the team proved to be a great move for Revolution, which is clearly seen in their recent results. The former LA Galaxy and US coach is respected by many and for all the right reasons, as it became clear rather quickly that he has a positive effect on the team, which is slowly but surely making their way into the top 7. Looking back at New England’s recent 5 results, they have not lost a single league match, which does point towards a brighter future, especially after a 1:1 draw against Philadelphia Union on Thursday.
Houston Dynamo struggling to perform
Houston Dynamo are currently sitting at the 5th place in the West with a 7-3-5 record, which looked much better in mid-May. Looking back at their last 4 league matches, Houston Dynamo lost to Minnesota United (1:0), Portland Timbers (4:0) and San Jose Earthquakes (2:0), while managed to grab a point against Sporting Kansas City (1:1). The injuries and international absences have played a huge role in their disastrous performances. There is also the fact that Dynamo had to endure hard matches and had to travel quite a lot, so it should not come off as a surprise they do not perform as well as they would have hoped.
Looking at the upcoming match, they can at least be happy they will have the attacking duo Ellis and Quito available, however, we can not expect too much from them as they are coming from a demanding schedule in the international tournament.
Verdict & Prediction
Looking at how the away side struggled against Portland Timbers last week (0:4) and against San Jose (2:0), there is little to be positive about as they head into the upcoming match. We have mentioned that one of the biggest factors that contributed to the less than the impressive record of Dynamo is all the traveling they had to do, unfortunately for them, they had to once again pack their bags and travel to Foxborough for the weekend match against Revolution. It seems like everything works against Dynamo who are expected to struggle against on June 30th once again. In fact, even if they had a week to rest and would come into this match with complete strength, I would still be skeptical about them defeating New England.
Not only are Houston Dynamo in a bad spot right now, but they also tend to underperform away from home, which their 1-0-5 record makes rather obvious. All thing considered, New England are highly underrated here. With around 2.05 offered on the home side to deliver, we will gladly bet on Revolution to continue their unbeaten run and get closer to the top 7 in the East.
Prediction: New England Revolution to win
Odds: 2.05 Pinnacle
