The 2021 NFL preseason ends today with five games. We’re now going to analyze three of those, providing betting picks along the way. So, with no further ado, here are our predictions!
Dallas Cowboys vs Jacksonville Jaguars
When: Sunday, August 29 – 12:00 CDT
Where: AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas
Weather: Mostly cloudy, 29°C
The last time the Jacksonville Jaguars won a game was back in September 2020. Since then, they lost 17 straight, 15 of which were NFL regular-season games. This month, they also lost both of their preseason games against the Cleveland Browns (13-23) and New Orleans Saints (21-23).
Is it time for the Jags to break that horrible record? It seems so. With Gardner Minshew moving to Philadelphia, Jaguars will probably have to give more playing time to their new starting QB, Trevor Lawrence.
The Clemson product and one of the college football legends is expected to shine in this game. It’s supposed to be his dress rehearsal for Week 1’s game of the regular season. Apart from Lawrence, the Jags coach Urban Meyer will probably play most other starters as well.
The same isn’t going to be the case with Dallas. As confirmed by the Cowboys coach McCarthy, the starting QB Dak Prescott will sit out this game. Furthermore, starters like Damontae Kazee and Connor Williams are also out, but for other reasons – they tested positive for COVID-19, together with a couple of other players.
Prediction: Jacksonville Jaguars – 1.53 at Intertops
San Francisco 49ers vs Las Vegas Raiders
When: Sunday, August 29 – 12:00 PDT
Where: Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California
Weather: Sunny, 22°C
The Niners coach Kyle Shanahan recently revealed his plan to play all of his starters against the Raiders. Sure, they probably won’t spend the entire game on the field, but their input should be good enough to help San Francisco get a win.
However, even if San Francisco played with its backups in this game, they should still be able to edge out a W. The thing is that their backups are excellent, especially those that are members of the offence team.
Speaking of the offence, coach Shanahan has several top-class quarterbacks at his disposal. It’s still unclear who will be the starter this season, but whoever gets the job probably won’t disappoint.
That said, you can expect both veteran Jimmy Garoppolo and rookie Trey Lance to give their utmost against the Raiders. A good performance in tonight’s game could book either of them the starting role.
Prediction: San Francisco 49ers – 1.46 at Unibet
New York Giants vs New England Patriots
When: Sunday, August 29 – 15:00 EDT
Where: MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey
Weather: Cloudy, 26°C
The Giants lost both of their previous two preseason games, scoring only 20 points along the way. Their defence didn’t do too poorly, but as evident, their offence was dreadful.
When it comes to the Patriots, this team has been phenomenal both in the offence and defence this preseason. They beat Washington Football Team (37-3) in Week 1, then demolished Philadelphia Eagles (35-0) in Week 2.
Rookie running back Rhamondre Stevenson was phenomenal in both of those games, and we imagine he should continue playing well. On top of that, we also expect the Pats’ backup QB to do well. The man in question is Mac Jones, who’s labelled by the media as the new Tom Brady.
Prediction: New England Patriots – 1.61 at Intertops
