There are seven preseason games scheduled for Saturday, some of which look ideal from a betting perspective. We will now preview those games, providing our NFL betting picks along the way. Let’s start with the matchup featuring the reigning Super Bowl champions!
Houston Texans vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers
When: Saturday, August 28 – 19:00 CDT
Where: NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas
Weather: Mostly cloudy, 29°C
A few days ago, Bruce Arians, the head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, revealed that he would play his starters against the Houston Texans. This means that we’re going to see Tom Brady in action, as well as Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and other guys that won the Super Bowl LV.
Even without them on the field, the Bucs would be considered serious favorites against the Texans. Why? Because the Houston franchise is probably the worst team in the NFL right now.
Prediction: Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 1.54 at Bet365
Buffalo Bills vs Green Bay Packers
When: Saturday, August 28 – 15:00 CDT
Where: Bills Stadium in Orchard Park, New York
Weather: Partly cloudy, 29°C
If there’s an NFL team that comes close to being a one-man army, it’s Green Bay. The Packers probably wouldn’t be this successful if Aaron Rodgers wasn’t there. In fact, without their starting quarterback playing in the preseason, they lost both games so far.
It’s clear that coach LeFleur will want to keep him off the field, making sure Rodgers stays injury-free. The same goes for all the other starters, meaning that we can expect another bleak performance of the team that finished at the top of the NFC last season.
Green Bay’s backups will take on Buffalo’s backups this afternoon, so what should we expect from the game? We should expect the Bills to do much, much better as their backups are fantastic.
For instance, their backup quarterbacks, Mitch Trubisky and Davis Webb, led the team to a 41-14 win over the Chicago Bears in Week 2. Apart from the QBs, other players also did great in that game, namely fullback Reggie Gilliam who scored two touchdowns.
Prediction: Buffalo Bills -9.50 Points – 1.98 at SBO
Washington Football Team vs Baltimore Ravens
When: Saturday, August 28 – 20:00 EDT
Where: FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland
Weather: Clear, 26°C
In Week 2 of the preseason, the Baltimore Ravens destroyed the Carolina Panthers 20-3. As evident from the final score, Baltimore’s defence did an excellent job in that game. They should play equally well against the Washington Football Team. The question is how their offence will perform?
It’s very likely that the Ravens’ starters aren’t going to get too many minutes on the field at FedEx Field, meaning that breaking WFT’s defence isn’t going to be easy.
That said, we probably aren’t going to witness too many touchdowns tonight. In fact, the scenario we will probably see is the kickers deciding the outcome of the game.
Prediction: Under 32.5 Points – 2.00 at Pinnacle
