Odds on Oostende are dropping fast, and for a reason. They did indeed lost their opening match this season against Genk (2:1), but to be fair, Genk is strong at home, and it’s not an easy task for any team to walk from their stadium as a winners. Second match for Oostende was more in their favour, when they won at home against Club Brugge (1:0), which is a huge accomplishment, as Brugge is not a weak team by any means. Now, ahead of them is a match against Mouscron at home stadium. Looking at previous season, Oostende has made a name for themselves, as a strong team at home ground (10W-2D-3L). The record is something all teams should take into consideration when visiting Albert Parkstadion. Sadly for Oostende, Lukaku has left the team, but in my opinion, they have found a decent replacement in Antunes. In addition, Oostende is strengthened by a new goalkeeper Sylvio Proto (former goalkeeper of Anderlecht). Some may disagree, but I think Oostende has a better team compared to last season and I can see them achieving good results. Mouscron has not shown anything promising this season, losing their opening 2 matches against Anderlecht (1:2) and Charleroi (0:1). They seem to lack quality to compete for top spot in the league, new players would help, but nothing is happening in that direction. In my eyes, they are a relegation candidates, but it’s too soon to say what will happen at the end of the season.
Verdict & Prediction
Oostende is an aggressive team, which should result in a win for them, whereas I don’t see Mouscron creating any threatening chances, as they failed to do so in the first 2 matches. This should be a great opportunity for Oostende to get another 3 points and start climbing the standings.
