Orlando City v Chicago Fire – MLS
12.3.2016, Citrus Bowl, 00:00 GMT +0
I was impressed with the dramatic draw Orlando City produced in their season opener, as Cyle Larin and Adrian Winter both scored less than a minute apart in the last minutes of the game to pull the “Lions” back into a 2-2 draw with Real Salt Lake.
Orlando will miss a couple of players(Donovan, Mateos, Rivas, Rochez) for today’s match, but the most notable is Brazilian midfielder Kaka. He already missed their first match due to a thigh strain.
Although Chicago had am amazing pre-season, they started their campaign with a defeat against New York City, with an open match that produced seven goals. Not a surprise, if we take in consideration that those were the teams with the worst defence last season.
As far as transfer market goes, Chicago was quite active this year. I you ask me, they have done a great deal signing international player Brandon Vincent from SuperDraft and I expect him to be playing right away! Sadly they lost one of their best players, Harry Shipp, to the Montreal Impact. Today their new coach Veljko Paunović will be without Gilberto(injured in the first minute against NYCFC) and Eric Gehrig.
Orlando and Chicago met three times last season, and the Lions managed to collect points on each match. They won both matches at Toyota Park(3-2, 1-0), but at their home stadium they only managed to get a draw(1-1). They also met in the U.S. Open Cup quarter-finals, where Chicago beat them 3-1 at Toyota Park.
With the home ground being a huge handicap in the MLS, I expect that Orlando will win this match. Also, this might be a low scoring match, so I advise to take Asian Handicap to cover the draw.
Prediction: Orlando City -0.25
