Real Sociedad v Celta Vigo – LaLiga

Real Sociedad v Celta Vigo – LaLiga

Real Sociedad v Celta Vigo – LaLiga

In the 13th round of Spanish LaLiga, we will look at the match between Real Sociedad and Celta Vigo at Estadio Anoeta, the home of Real Sociedad.

The home side, Real Sociedad are currently at 13th position in the league, with a total of 16 points and an overall record of 4-4-4. As of now, they are 4 points from the top 5 teams and 5 points from the bottom 3 teams. Looking at how they performed in their recent matches, Real Sociedad won 2, drew 2 and lost 1 match in the past 5. The most impressive result of the 5 was without a doubt a draw against Sevilla (0:0), who are currently 1st in the league (8-2-3). In their most recent match, Real Sociedad won against Levante (1:3), which saw Levante dropping from the top 5. The match against Levante did not look promising for Real Sociedad, as they conceded a goal only 4 minutes into the 1st half. That half was in Levante favor, who had 48% possession and 7 goal attempts, whereas Real Sociedad only had 4 goal attempts and no shots on goal. The second half, however, showed a completely different picture, with Real Sociedad having the ball at their feet 54% of the time, had a total of 11 goal attempts and 4 shots on goal. Out of 4 shots on goal, Sociedad managed to score 3 of them in a relatively quick succession (in 73,77 and 83 minute). The 3 goals in 10 minutes from the visiting team turned the match on its head and sunk Levante’s ship. Final score: 1:3.

The visiting side, Celta Vigo are currently at 15th spot in the league with an overall record of 3-5-4. In their last 5 matches, they have lost 3, won 1 and drew 1. They performed well against Sevilla, despite the loss (2:1) and even better against Eibar, who they defeated by 4 goals (4:0). Their most recent match against Real Madrid ended with a total of 6 goals. The opener was scored in 23′ by Benzema, but that was the only goal we saw in the first half despite a total of 16 goal attempts (8 from each team). In the second half, it was Cabral who scored an own goal in 56′, thus giving Real a 0:2 lead, however, Celta Vigo answered with a goal only 5 minutes later. The match continued without a goal up until 83′ when Ramos scored a penalty, giving his team a 2 goal lead (1:3). Only 8 minutes later it was Ceballos who scored another goal for Real in the 1st minute of added time (90’+1), but the scoring did not end here. In 90’+4 Mendez scored a goal for Celta Vigo, which did not change the course of the match, as they were 3 goals behind. The match itself was not impressive for Real Madrid. They shot on goal 14 times, which is 1 less than Celta Vigo and had only 1 more shot on goal compared to the home side (4). Final score: 2:4.

These two teams have met each other several times before, with half of the matches ending in a draw (10). In addition, Real Sociedad has a history of drawing their matches after they won their previous one. From what we have seen from these two teams thus far, I expect a low scoring match. Real Sociedad has only scored 3 goals in the 5 home matches, whereas Celta Vigo scored 9 in away games. Out of those 9, 3 were scored against Betis who are terrible at defending their own goal at home and 2 against Girona who are just like Betis one of the worst teams when it comes to defending their goal in home matches. Expect a low scoring match, with no more than 2 goals.

Prediction: Under 2.50 goals
Odds: 1.93 Pinnacle
