Spain vs Poland – EURO 2020 Betting Preview

Spain will host Poland at Estadio de La Cartuja on Saturday, June 19, when they’ll look to claim their first W of the tournament. After a disappointing draw with Sweden in their opener, the hosts won’t settle for anything less than all three points, but knowing how potent Poland can be with the ball, keeping the Eagles at bay won’t be an easy task.

Spain vs Poland

When: Saturday, June 19 – 21:00 CEST
Where: Estadio de La Cartuja in Sevilla, Spain
Weather: Sunny, 23°C
Referee: Daniele Orsato (ITA)

Neither team can be too proud of how they started the tournament. In their EURO 2020 opener, Poland lost to Slovakia 2-1, while Spain played a goalless draw with Sweden. That said, both teams are in need of points, meaning that we’re in for an exciting duel tonight.

Spain Need to Improve in The Final Third

Spain dominated Sweden on Monday, holding the ball in their possession for three-quarters of the time. They also had 17 goal attempts, five of which went on goal. In comparison, the Swedes had no shots aimed toward Spain’s goal.

With so many chances to come out ahead, the La Roja should feel disappointed for not getting all three points, which they arguably deserved. On the bright side, they will have another shot at three points tonight. The aim is the same, and so should be their tactic.

We will likely see the same starting XI as in the first game, with the only possible exception being Thiago Alcantara, who might get to play from the very start. He’s expected to play in the centre of the midfield alongside Koke and Pedri.

Meanwhile, Sergio Busquets remains sidelined after testing positive for COVID. Still, his absence probably isn’t going to hurt the Spanish as they got plenty of talent in that part of the pitch.

What has to worry them is their attack. Alvaro Morata has been the target of criticism but will probably get another chance to prove himself tonight. The Spanish no.9 has scored only one goal for his national team in the past five games. It happened back in March.

Nevertheless, he’s got the skills to end his goal drought, not to mention that he’s super motivated to get on the scoresheet as soon as possible.

Poland Want to Bounce Back After a Disappointing Loss to Slovakia

Poland suffered a 1-2 loss in their EURO 2020 opener, not because Slovakia played well, but mainly because Poland were terrible. The Polish players made way too many mistakes in that game, so they got only themselves to blame for the defeat.

First, their goalie Wojciech Szczesny scored his own goal in the first half. Then, some 15 minutes after Poland made it 1-1, Grzegorz Krychowiak got his second yellow, which meant an early shower for the 31-year-old.

With ten men on the pitch, Poland kept on attacking. But then, Milan Škriniar blasted the ball into Poland’s net in the 69th minute.

Obviously, Poland got a lot to make up for, but everything will be forgotten if they do well tonight. They surely have the talent to give Spain a run for their money. This team seems strong in all areas of the game, with their attack being their strongest asset. No surprise there, as that’s where Robert Lewandowski plays.

Spain vs Poland Betting Picks

It’s going to be a lovely evening in Seville, with weather conditions perfect for football. With both teams motivated, we expect to see an entertaining encounter.

Knowing how much power both teams have in the final third and how vulnerable they can be in the back, it’s only fair to assume we’re in for a high-scoring affair.
