Vegalta Sendai seem to be sinking deeper and deeper into the abyss. They are one of the two teams – besides Yokohama FC – in the league without a single win, and you can be almost certain their first W won’t come at home.
They’re now set to face Kashiwa Reysol that not long ago kept them company at the bottom of the table, but have since improved drastically and won three back-to-back bouts.
Can Vegalta Sendai turn things around at home, or will their poor home record continue?
Vegalta Sendai Are Awful at Home
To say Vegalta Sendai are awful at home would be an understatement at this point. Even though they have played only three home fixtures thus far, it was enough for us to say that they aren’t exactly a good home side.
That’s not to say Vegalta Sendai are much more impressive on the road (0-2-5), but you can’t really defend a team that is 0-1-2 at home with a 1-7 GD.
With all due respect, this team should have been relegated last year and they can count themselves lucky that the league decided not to demote anyone due to the pandemic. Regardless, there won’t be any new rules to save them this season.
On a more positive note, Vegalta do OK offensively, but even there, they tend to give up way too many chances for us to praise them too much. In 10 games, Vegalta have scored seven goals, six of which came in away bouts.
Perhaps they would have done better if they had a proper striker. Instead, they have seven players with one goal apiece – including two defenders in Yoshino Kyohei and Hachisuka Koji.
Kashiwa Reysol on the Rise
Kashiwa Reysol had a very poor start of the season, but they are seemingly finding their rhythm. Reysol enter this match with a 3-1-1 record in their last five, and a three-game winning streak that includes wins against Gamba Osaka (1-0), Ooita Trinita (1-0), and Tokushima (5-1).
The only two J-League bouts Reysol haven’t won in that stretch came against Kashima Antlers (1-2), and Yokohama FC (1-1). Those results are not exactly promising, but you can’t look past Reysol’s improvement across their last three.
With those wins, Reysol capitulated themselves from the bottom of the table and are now 4-1-6 on the season with 13 points. That is good for 12th place on the ladder, 10 short of the top-three.
Another thing worth noting is Reysol’s GD which shows 12-13. Those numbers, however, don’t mean much if we take into account that Reysol scored nine and conceded only four in their last five – and are 7-1 in their last three.
Vegalta Sendai vs Kashiwa Reysol Betting Picks
This match is not so much about Reysol’s improvement as much as it’s about Vegalta Sendai’s poor home record. Although the two things go hand-in-hand, we would perhaps not be as excited about Reysol had they faced a strong home team.
With the numbers Kashiwa Reysol have been putting up of late, you have to trust them over Vegalta Sendai for this match. And at the offered odds, it’s hard to pass on this opportunity.
